I’m Harriet, a British writer and creator living in Los Angeles, and the person behind Analog Enabler.
After spending much of my adult life working online, I found myself increasingly drawn towards the things that asked me to put my phone down — reading, journaling, scrapbooking, planning, collecting and making things simply because I enjoyed them.
What surprised me most wasn’t just how much these hobbies gave me, but how quickly that enthusiasm spread to the people around me.

How I became an Analog Enabler
If there’s anything I want to be known for, it’s being an analog enabler.
It started when I noticed the knock-on effect my own love of analog hobbies was having on the people around me. My five- and six-year-old nieces wanted to scrapbook with me. Friends with demanding jobs started journaling, reading and making things again. Someone would ask about a notebook, a book or something I was making, and before long they were doing it too.
The thing they all had in common was how good it felt to make space for something that didn’t need to achieve anything.
Analog Enabler grew out of wanting to pass that feeling on.
Creativity deserves to be a priority
In a world that constantly demands our attention and encourages us to optimize almost everything we do, our hobbies can be one of the few places where nothing is being asked of us.
Analog Enabler is about making space for curiosity, creativity and the simple pleasure of doing something with your hands. No need to be particularly good at it. No need to turn it into anything. And no prescribed timeline for where it needs to lead.
